COP/spark plug replacement 4.6L

I have a 2002 F150 4.6L 4x2. Code reader says #7 is misfiring and since mileage is a little over 100K, decided to replace all plugs and #7 COP. Problem is the fuel rail is in the way...how do you remove it? Thanks.

IF at all possible i try to use the 1/4 inch flex and extensions to get aroud it. If you remove, it can be difficult to reinstall. That being said, there are two small, maybe 8 mm screw heads holding the fuel rail to the motor. With them out, pry up on the rail and it will slowly pop off each injector. The seal is an o-ring. If any of the 4 o-rings pull off the injector they will be stuck inside the tube end. Rmove the o-rings and install back on the injectors. All injectos mounted into their base hole. Position the rail above them and "PUSH" down onto the 4 injectors to reseat the tube.

Just did my own 4.6 a few weeks ago. That fuel rail doesn't have to be removed. I used a 1/4" drive universal with extension to get at those COPs at the rear with some difficulty but proved to myself it can be done with rail in place. Patience paid off plus many tips from others on this forum. Remember, once the bolt is removed the COPs can be shifted a lot because the boot doesn't restrict movement at all once the bolt is out.

Thanks for replying...finally figured it out. I didn't have the tools to work around the rail, but only had to remove it on the driver's side. On the bright side, now I know how replace injectors if I need to.

Way to go. Ford didn't make it easy but I always figure if there's a way, someone on this forum has figured it out.
