excursion tank differances

im thinking about adding a excursion tank to my project truck,

when i look it up on car-part it shows diesel, gas from 4/9/01 and gas thru 4/9/01

my question is this:
what is the difference and will the gas ones work for a diesel??

They are all the same. If you are going to use one from a gasser, clean it out first. Otherwise they are the same.

It was 75 bucks without the cap and sending unit. But it does have the steel guard and mount for it...

None of the Super Duty's or Excursions had the fuel pump in the tank from the factory. Fuel level sending unit, "mixing chamber", etc. sure, but not the pump. All of them have it mounted on the frame rail.

I wonder if that would even fit on a Crew Cab shortbed?

IIRC, it will fit behind the axle where the spare tire goes. I'll try to take some measurements tonight and compare the space on my Ex with that on my short bed F250 (if I can remember). I believe it was Ziggy (Cory) who did this conversion on his truck, and I'm sure that he would be happy to answer any questions you have. I'm considering the same thing myself, but can't decide if I want to give up the bed space for my spare which still fits underneath. This wasn't an issue at all for Cory due to the size of his tires.

Cory does have it under his short bed.
I thought the gas super duty pickups have the fuel pump as party of the sending unit
Didn't someone use the gasser pump and sending unit to feed there stock pump?
