stock wheels and tires!(from color to caps)

The progress on my Great Grandfather's 48 F1 Farm Truck is going great, but the small details are driving me crazy!I could see the original paint color, interior color, etc... BUT the rims and wheels were completely rusted out and tires were all mismatched. The truck was red, so would the rims have been red? The running boards were black, so should the rims be black? Thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be appreciated?

There's really no right or wrong. The interior was painted the same color as the exterior. You can paint the wheels black or body color.

According to the Standard Catalog of American Light-duty Trucks:

For 1948 Ford 1/2 F-1
"Prototype trucks, seen in many factory photos, had a body color grill/headlight mounting panel while early production trucks originally had Tucson tan finish there. Argent silver later replaced Tucson tan and the later trucks also had Argent silver silver finished grill bars with red stripes. All 1948 models had the wheels done in black. F-1s had hubcaps first seen on late 1947 Ford passenger cars, which were also used on 1948 passenger."

I think that's how I understood it, too. 1948 had black wheels for all of them, and then 1949 the F1 went to body color, while the F2 and larger stayed black. Panels I think stayed body color.

This is part of that sticky thread idea I had a while back, explaining the differences between the years, including flathead engine colors (both V8 and I6) It's at least something we could agree on before this info gets lost (muddy is another term) as each generation passes away.

I guess it was easy for me - black body, black wheels. By the way, thanks havi for the advice on grill color last year.
