Sync

Hello, is your 2008 ford still working with the sync. I would like to try and install it in my truck.
The head unit fits in the dash ?

Is it pretty easy to install and do you have to replace all the parts you mentioned in order for the sync to work? I have the king ranch also with the camera on the tailgate handle already.
Thank you Howard

QUOTE=mackda600;10357444]What many said could not be done, has been seamlessly integrated into my 2008 f-350 king ranch.

I started with a stock 2008 KR. that contained the older style factory nav unit.

I wanted to upgrade the unit, and maintain the factory look to the newer 2011 style nav units, and add iPod integration, Bluetooth phone support, reverse camera, etc.

With the help of a user of this forum, I was able to do just that.

I purchased a 2011 headunit on eBay, as well as the reverse camera/tailgate handle.

All of the programming/and custom harnesses (harnesses all contain factory connections for a PLUG AND PLAY install, the harness are all wire loomed and taped and look just like ford OEM).

THE GUY REALLY DOES SOME QUALITY WORK WITH ALL OEM PARTS! his tech support is second to none, and he always answered the phone when I called with a question.

The parts I needed to do the entire swap:

Rearview mirror with mic and display

Both left and right steering wheel control buttons

Steering wheel harness

Sync module

2011 head unit

Amplifier for head unit

Externally mounted OEM GPS/Sirius antenna and splitter cable

Tailgate camera/handle

Custom plug and play harness'

I am also sure there is some other pars I am missing.

If anyone has any questions, PM me and I will share both my experience and his contact information.[/QUOTE]

Plug and Play Harness

@mackda600, I know that this is an old thread, however do you still have the contact info for the user who created the plug and play harness for the upgrade Sync? I purchased a newer unit from a 2011 for a 2008, while it lights up and outputs to the sub, it does not output elsewhere.

thank you!

The thread starter at the post below is that fellow Steve who made the Youtube video

Adding Sync to 09 Nav in an 08 truck - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

And there is another thread here at FTE. I believe the OP in this thread was referring to Steve's project of getting sync to work in his 08 F350.

New member here. Not sure if I'm posting this right so please bear with me if not. I did the steering wheel swap at the beginning of this thread on my 02 F250. Got a used steering column out of an 06 and used the wheel and clock spring in preparation for a new head unit. I get no air bag light and the horn works but I've lost the cruise control. Is there something I may have missed or maybe just a bad clock spring? I'd like to have radio controls on the wheel but not at the expense of cruise.

I’m getting ready to do most of that myself (09 F350) I have the mirror screen/ handle camera but I’ve got the blue screen of death(truck came that way) and I’m stumped. Id appreciate any info/tips/etc- this isn’t my strongest area so I’m doing all the homework I can! backup camera and steering wheel/voice controls for the phone are a gamechanger- should be on everyones list
