Fuel Line Removal Tool Success

Got the pressure line off quickly when switching tools. I used a tool purchased from Advance Auto made by AutoCraft, 3/8" fuel filter line tool, # AC504, $15.

Came to the conclusion the plastic set & the cheap multi size scisor-like set I have wasn't lifting the fingers high enough to clear the barb. The AutoCraft unit is thicker (thicker tubing wall) and lifts the fingers above the barb.

This was confirmed when comparing the tools mounted on the metal hanger/sender unit pipe. Literally, it came off in 5 seconds.

The AC504 looks to be a good casting or machined part and is anodized in a gold color.

Might try this as a last resort.

Tried again 3 days ago to get mine off and still couldnt.. I have the plastic tool and metal scissor tool. Neither works...

Im just taking it to the ford dealership if this doesn't work. Tried getting it off like 5 times within the year and keep giving up. On my old F150 it came off no problem.

Yeah i might have to try that tool. Its like 3 times the prices of the cheap scissor tools but if it works, its worth it to me.

I think the PO tried to just pull the line off and F%#$ my filter line connection. I'm almost afraid to really work and get it off, as with my luck the line is toast.

The scissor type can be a PITA. Spray pb blaster in the fitting and then blow it out with an air compressor, that works well sometimes. We still had to use a tiny screwdriver to get the tabs to unhook. That tool looks to be better.

The plastic and scissor type fuel line disconnect tools are no comparison to a set of the good aluminum ones. They're well worth spending the $$ on, especially if you work on late model vehicles frequently.

I actually found that the cheap plastic ones reach in farther than the scissor looking aluminum ones. I have not had any issues with the plastic ones. I have not tried the tool you posted a picture of though. It may indeed be better.
