Fuel pressure sender for CTS?

Just wondering what you guys would recommend for a fuel pressure sender for the CTS? They have thier 0-100psi out now for $145.
Edge Products| Product
But it says it needs the EAS 5v universal sensor kit, so that is another chunk of change. I was thinking about just using a sender of my choice to keep it cheaper. Glowshift has a cheap one:
Replacement 0-100 PSI Fuel Pressure Sender
or I found this one that looks nicer:
R9279B: Pressure Senders: 0 - 100 PSI - 240-33 Ohms (U.S. Ohm Range) - egauges.com
What do you guys think, anyone doing this?

But will it work with the new Edge Insight if it was that easy they would of had it on the market months ago.

If you don't use their sender you need to enter the ohm values to set it up, but it "should" work. I'm trying to figure out if there is something I'm missing because it looks like they are charging $100 for a plug. I like plug-n-play and usually go that route, but with that kind of price difference I don't know if I'll do it.

I was wondering the same thing about their "adapter harness"- unless there is some kind of converter box on that thing I think they are sticking it to us big time. I'd like to go this route for a FP gauge to keep things clean, but that sure is a lot of money for that setup!

Yeah, even if you spent $60 on a nice sender and then hook it up to the universal input you'd still be saving a ton of money. I'm getting the feeling the only clean part of install with the edge sender is your wallet.

Their fuel sender looks exactly like the ICP sensor on my truck. And the replacement run about the same amount of money. Also notice how the edge sender and the ICP are both 5v units..

I have the CTS, and installed a glowshift in pillar 3 gauge pod..The other disadvantage not mentioned is if you add the fuel pressure to the CTS. you will have to give up one of your other functions being monitored on the screen.. One of the draw backs of the CTS is it does not have the large multi function monitor ability of the old insights..jmo..

My CS can monitor and display 8 PIDs at once. Thats really more then you need to look at. Unless you add a pyrometer and a FP sender.

Even if you add EGT and FP it seems like it should be enough. Some of the stuff you can just set an alarm for and not have on your display. It's not quite as nice as always having it on the screen, but it could work.

Anyone have recommendations on senders? Or is the Edge sender super high quality and I should just suck it up and buy it.

I'm actually here in the lobby of edge. Talking with the Guy up front its definity not worth the cost of useing their universal setup with a aftermarket sender. The universal pigtail setup costs $40 more then the FP sender setup they sell. Best to go with the glowshift setup for FP.

I got sick of waiting for Edge, so I put an Isspro EV2 fuel gauge on for $125. It is not as clean as having just one monitor, but I also did not want to change my screen - I like the 5 display mode and I did not want to give up a slot. Edge tech support told me their set-up would work with any 5V fuel pressure sender in the right range (0-100psi). I think it comes down to personal preference and cost.

Here is an email that I sent Edge the other day with their reply,
================================================== ====================
Contact Reason: I have other questions about your company
Subject: E.A.S UNIVERSAL SENSOR INPUT,EAS PRESSURE SENSOR
Comments: I am VERY disappointed in how this was put toghther. The
universal sensor input is a great idea, but the pressure sensor should
be the EAS plug as the turbo timer is. I like the idea of being able to
put temp sensors in any place and the outside temp but, now for me to
put the $145.00 PSI sensor on I HAVE to buy the $167.00 input harness. I
have done nothing but talk about the CTS w/EAS EGT that I got for my
truck and what it's capabilities are but with this set up for the
pressure sensor ($312.00+) its going to be very hard to talk it up like
I have been!!!

Josh,

Thank you for your valuable feedback; I will pass that onto our
marketing team so that they can document it and discuss it with our
engineers.

It is a big investment to get the Universal Input and from personal
experience I think that it is nice because you can add multiple sensors
to it instead of paying at least 145 dollars for every sensor that you
wanted to add.

Another option you have is purchasing an aftermarket pressure sensor and
splicing it into the connectors that come with the EAS Universal 5 Volt
Input. Here is an example of a sensor that you could get from AEM:

If you need more information on how to do this let me know.

Sincerely,

Mark Hayward

Nice, at least the guy seems strait up and isn't trying to make excuses. Funny, is it me or does that sender look alot like the one from the Edge kit? I wonder how much edge would sell the wire harness for?

I called Edge yesterday and complained about the high cost of adding the FP sensor to my two-week old Insight. Not only do you have to buy the Universal Sensor Input and the FP sensor, but you also have to buy the EAS cable for the back of the Insight. It's a damn racket and I'm not so sure I will be doing this unless I find a GREAT deal on the whole setup one day. The cost of all of this just about equals the cost of the CTS!

First, sorry for my bad english.

I'd wait a long time for the fuel pressure sensor. But the solution Edge offers is

I'd bought the CTS with EAS, so I think, the sensor should be compatible with the EAS. I don't want other sensors and I don't want a extra harness which is so expensive.
I hope they overhaul their system! I think if the sensor is plug and play to the EAS, it will be O.K. for me.
Only my 02
Best regards from Germany!
