Ran the truck hard -- It was a good weekend

Wow, what a fast and busy weekend.
Saturday night the local dragstrip had a street rod test and tune night. The track was open to 1973 and older cars only. I took my 49 out there prepared to be embarassed. I held my own pretty good and feel pretty good about the truck considering my 500ci is bone stock with approx 100,000 miles on it.

I ran the truck 10 times, my best times were 15.4, worst was a 15.7. If it weren't for my pitiful reaction times I'd have been in the 14's. My average reaction time was a very slow .6 seconds.....ugh. I won 7 out of the 10 races. The 3 I lost were all lost because of my horrible reaction times.

I spent the day Sunday at a local car show. There was a great turnout with some very cool cars on display.

Hope the rest of you had a great weekend as well

Bobby

Sounds like fun. I mowed the grass, before, during and after rain!

That's Awesome! Love your truck... What can you do about those reaction times?? maybe they need some hot backup spotters out there?

My Sunday was spent cutting back about 17 huge rose bushes that died back because of the warm fall that went cold quickly which apparently killed them?? most had new growth at the base so just cut them way back. mosty were so huge I had to use a chainsaw to do the trimming.

I would have much rather busted/bloodied my knuckles turning wrenches, I was bloody from head to toe after dealing with those darn rose trees and I still need to burn or haul off the piles of them in the yard.

Hey, Bobby, sounds like you had a great week end. Mine was spent at home doing yard work. Not much point in it because we are on water restrictions and can only water one day a week. Texas, ya know. (flush twice)

Ross,
Heck no.....My son can break anything he touches without any effort....LOL. And I'm having way too much fun!

I think what my problem is, is that I know I really have to feather the throttle to take off, I can't just mash it down or I'll break the tires loose. Once I get rid of the 4.11 gears and replace them with my 2.78 Traction-Lok unit I should be good to go. I have more the enought torque to make up for not having the taller gears.

Here's a couple of videos. The quality isn't that good, the wind was blowing like heck and my son is kinda shaky with the camera.

Thanks!
It sure doesn't look that fast in the videos, but sitting behind the wheel feels like you're doing at least Mach 8.

Terry, I have to really feather it or I'll just burn rubber all the way into 2nd. I love a big block

It sure is fun.

Good way to spend the weekend. I was home sick.........

Your reaction time actually does not affect your ET. It does affect your total time and who gets to the finish first, assuming equal start. Reaction time plus ET equals total time.
