Head Unit Decision

I bought one of the overseas units on ebay last December. I didn't have the cash to do anything nicer at the moment, so I tried it out. For the price it works ok. It is sometimes slow working through the menus and the remote stops working intermittently. If you are sticking with the stock speakers and no amps, it isn't a terrible deal, but just remember you get what you paid for. I am planning on getting a name brand unit later this summer.

what do you think about this

I found these ford radios which are direct fit for newer expedition and other newer fords. I am gonna see if I can get an extra dash panel and same size stock radio and trim the panel to get it flush mounted. I think the face plate is larger than our radios and will fit nicely with a little fab work.

Yes can be done. I just did it to my 2001 EX a couple of weeks ago and it looks awesome. It isn't straight bolt in, you have to do a little tirming to the radio area.

I have three of these chinese units and I can tell you they out perform the $1200 pioneers. If you look at the specs they have the exact same components as the Kenwoods and Pioneers. In my opinion they are more flexible and upgradeable then the name brands

These "Chinese" units... do they have built in PARROT bluetooth??

Where can we find the specs, and information about them? I have a friend interested... after he saw my Kenwood unit and didn't want to pay $1000.

would love to hear an update on how any of you that got the no name E-bay navigation units are holding up.

Also for those that went with the no name and loaded different nav software, how hard was it and what did you need to do for it to work? How much did the software cost?

thinking about something like this early next year and starting my research now.

thanks
