It has e4od tranny does the computer control engine shift speed? what can I do to adjust this. dont really want to take it for too far of a test ride to see if there are any factors also got check engine light on and there is no reader plug in truck, how and where do I get reading. I hope this isnt another $50 free estimate at AAMCO lol. any ideas will be appreciated

Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test Here is a link on how to check for any trouble codes. I think I would start there to diagnose the problem.
You could also buy an Equus 3145 code reader for around $30.00 to make the job easier.
As for AAMCO one of the transmission experts here wouldn`t trust them to read their own name.

The thing about aamco is that they are good at doing tranny's that they work on every day... IE chrysler and dodge... I have had co-workers tell me they do great work! (they own dodges) anyone else that has a honda, ford, etc says they do junk work. I actually talked to the manager that runs the aamco across the street from where I work and he says 85%-90% of the work they do is on dodges, chryslers, and jeeps... I personally wouldn't take my FORD transmission to the Dodge dealership for work so why would this be any different... If you think a tranny mechanic is needed I would talk to the local guys behind the auto parts counter (find the knowledgable ones - not the 20 y/o idiot!) and they could probably head you in the right direction of a shop if not give you the name of a guy who does work in his own garage....

You need to set the voltmeter to 12v or 20v DC. You need to ground the neg lead (black) to engine block or other good ground. Then, if possible probe in to the back of the connector plug with the other lead. If that is not possible then pierce the wire insulation with the meter probe to get a reading.
