iv been doing some reserching and have read on some other post that this seams very very common. it only bounces at 40 to45 mph. i have had the tires ballanced and rotated and it didnt change it at all. it only bounces in the back and you can see it in the mirrors and it gets so bad that you cant see out of the mirrors. i saw a post on another forum where a guy replaced the u joints on the driveshaft and also replaced the carrier bearing and had the drive shaft reballanced he said it fixed it. my question is he talking about the carrier bearing being the "midshaft" bearing or the carrier bearing in the chunk?. what yall think.

Mine had that. Bilstein HD shocks fixed it. Carrying a little weight helps too, but the shocks were the real fix.
People have said the TSB didn't really do much.
The carrier bearing is the bearing in the middle of the two piece driveshaft. I don't think it causes this issue. But you can easily inspect it and see if it is tight and the rubber mount looks good.

If the bearing feels tight when you push/pull the shaft, it is probably fine. Unless it is squealing or growling, or something like that. But a bad bearing would just give you some vibration in the seat of your pants. It would not bounce the whole truck.
I changed my shocks at about 50k miles, but I had the problem when I got the truck at 33k. I have the FX4, so the Rancho branded shocks, and they are not very good. Mine were NOT worn out, still had a good gas charge, and no leaks. They just were not right for an empty truck. They were fine in every other way.
Your other possible problem is tires that simply won't balance properly. You can try another shop, and insist on a Road Force balance job.

Steve, I cut/paste the text of the TSB from right here at FTE. Just go up to the navigation bar at the very top of any page, and click on the RECALLS/TSB button. Then type in the TSB number and it will give you the entire TSB. Or any other TSB. But it really only says what I have already included above.
Remember, Ford says right in the TSB that this is not a defect, and that all >8,500# trucks will do this. They only do this to satisfy customers who don't like the bounce (that is their official position). IMO, they don't have a shock available to properly fix the problem, so they say nothing is really wrong. But my truck bounced so bad on certain roads that my teeth were close to falling out, and no woman would have ever ridden with me. (not necessarily a bad thing)
I wish I could find a picture of part 5C3Z-5D008-A to see what it really is. But so far I have not found one.

bpounds i too would like to see what the kit is. i priced it on fordparts.com and its a little over $400. i may end up with replacing the shocks and go from there. from what i have seen ans heard here i dont think my mid shaft bearing needs replacing. the bouncing gets very aggervating to me. although my 10 month old son loves it. he sings with it.lol.
also i have new wheels on order and will be putting new rubber on them so i guess shocks, wheels, and tires then see how. we ride then
thanks for all the input.
