Little bit more about us?

Just read this thread for the first time. Don't know why.
There are a quite a few interesting folks in our little group.
I contribute to the well being of our country by shooting moronic, mindless entertainment designed to make chotchki buying robots out of us all.
Been doing it for 35 years. Always hoping to get that one project that is worthwhile and stimulating.
Happens every once in a while.
Would rather be hunting, shooting, fishing, working on a vehicle or riding a tractor around my little part of heaven up north.

Middle-aged guy with a generally sunny disposition, though I'm getting crankier and more outspoken by the year. I work as a Human Resources Manager for a medical management firm. Basically, I'm an adult babysitter and office cop that pushes mountains of paper.
I'd much rather be hunting, shooting, riding quads, running back roads, or relaxing right outside my toy hauler door far off the beaten path with a hot (morning) or cold (evening) beverage and enjoying the great outdoors with my son.
Oh, and I'm about a foot shorter than our Fearless Leader, Steve. Of course, most of us are!

Besides these places, I've kinda been watching too much Travel Channel, especially Man vs. Food haha and wanna try out a few of his SoCal spots...main one being Phil's BBQ in SD, I've tried to go there before but the line was around the building so got something else. Haha I guess that's another thing about me...I'm a foodie and go a Yelp account too, and even though I'm mexican probably my favorite food would have to be something with fish or sushi(not just the wanna be cali rolls).
Umm and other stuff about me...not sure if I mentioned or not but I'm an only child and I'm very proud of my parents, my mom is 54, dad 52. My mom works for a printer manufacture called Okidata she's a channel account manager and for reaching her "presidents club" achievement at work, her and my dad just returned from 5 days in Nevis...my dad used to work for Boeing(and when it was McDonald Douglas total of 20 somethin years) C-17 project in Long Beach as a Senior Lead Graphic Design/Artist but is doing freelance stuff (if anyone ever needs graphics/print media, shirts, banners, stickers business signs/markees/etched glass, etc my dads awesome!!!) He's done security clearance stuff back in the day when he had to do schematics for planes, his team designed commemorative coins for NASA launches...bunch of other stuff and that's just for graphics. He know's lots of high quality printers (his printer does the Honda Center, Huntington Surf and Sport, still does Boeing printing too, wall murals, many car wraps etc).
I used to surf but haven't done it in a long long time, got a 8'6" Harbour 9" single fin, got a kayak...hmm know there's more

I'll play...
I'm an over gorwn 12 yr. old that the world thinks is 30 something.
I'm a Landscape Architect for work which means I spend most of my days sitting behind this little, glowing box here.
I like to surf (haven't had much time for it recently), camp and do the desert racing there here in So Cal and Baja.
I also like to work on my trucks/cars. Haven't had much free time for that recently either. Once of these days I might finish one

Yup I went to the 500. A few good pics in the link below. I was with the Norman team and can be seen in the cowboy hat in many of the pics. I went with my "bronco" buddies and we took Tony and Vic's (brothers) black broncos that you will see in the pics.

I stopped going to Mexico for 4 or more years due to the "safety issues" and a couple buddies talked me into going to the 500 with them last year. It was the 1st time I'd been down there in a while and I realized I was skipping an awesome time for no reason and that I really missed going to Baja. I've only missed this years San Felipe 250 since then.

I have some connections to Letner Racing, through LiveWire Energy who is one of their sponsors that I sometimes help out for, at events and the owner is a family friend. Hopefully I'll be able to at least prerun with them and get more into the offroad racing...I wanna be able to do the Powder Puff someday, cuz some other people we know do that (owners of Damzl).
Hahaha there's just soooo much that I wanna get started to get into racing but I have to keep reminding myself(with my parents also reminding me ) that school comes first.....hahah at least I'll hopefully make some more connections through school to the racing industry, such as that PCI sponsors our Baja SAE team at school, and the prez of the team does work with TRD and The Long Beach Racers
My dream is to one day own one of these Bi Luxury Prerunner I've seen some used ones on RDC for half the price too

Cool. Do you go to CSULB for engineering? I had a couple buddies graduate from there in engineering. I went to Cal Poly Pomona as did my brother and dad (both engineering) and then the brain child (one other brother) went to Renssalier for 2 years, then finished at UCI (aerospace/mechanical dual major with a math or business minor) and is now at overpriced U (USC - although work is paying for most of it) getting his masters in "systems engineering" which from what I can tell is setting up the systems and programming to control satellites.
Oh and those luxury prerunners are cool. Although I'm NOT a fan of the looks of the newer Ford trucks (actually lost interst in the trucks after 96/97) I'd still ove to drive one. Now if I could just turn my '74 into that I'd be styling. One day...

I'm not too picky on the look...I like most of the 150's as long as they got some cool flared fenders to fit 35-37's Baja's or Generals. I was very close to buying a '86 single cab prerunner last year but didn't happen...now the F-250+ models I don't mind those newer headlights but the grilles are way to flashy and chrome for me..I prefer the 05-07 grilles...but I like the black mesh RBP ones anyway haha so no matter what I'd change it to that...and murder out the rest of the truck
