Ever wonder why kids nowadays are stupid?
Seems, that after viewing a few of the shows they have out for kids....They are ummmm, for lack of better words: CRAPPY
A short list of shows that make ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE...
Fish Hooks
Hannah Montana
Shake It Up
Spongebob Squarepants
Wizards of Waverly Place
There's tons more....But my poor mind couldn't take it no more...
Seriously though, the shows have no plot, no motive, and they don't seems to have any educational value.....And then we actually allow kids to watch the shows, and ask for good marks in school?
Too bad there isn't a place to funnel complaints, and actually get something done about it....
Discuss.

You can say the same thing about almost everything on TV today whether it's for kids or not. There are plenty of lame shows for adults as well.
DWTS? What exactly makes someone smarter for watching that? Or any reality show for that matter.
How about Family Guy? Yeah that's a Mensa party.
The Office? 30 Rock? Desperate Housewives?
Good shows? Maybe... but they ain't makin' anybody any smarter.
TV shows have nothing to do with kids being stupid. It starts, and usually ends, with parenting. Now if you're parents are stupid? Good luck!

I watched a lot of crap shows come to think about it and I don't feel as though I'm dumber then any of my peers. But like Dave mentioned it's all about parenting. My mom was very hard on me about schooling and I feel like it paid off.
Edit*
After posting this I was thinking about my younger cousins and some of the shows they watch just make me think...Why? Why would they ever want to watch this crap. Having said that I used to watch Power Rangers and thought that was entertaining. lol

Educational value was only one of the items you listed. It's funny. That's all I care about. I can laugh with my kids.
BTW, both kids 3.5-3.8 GPA in private schools. I told them B's weren't acceptable, but they won't listen. Too busy watching that damn Spongebob....

That's definitely a problem. Extended amounts. Between TV and video games it's absolutely out of control. When we were kids if we were awake, we were outside doing something. There was no cable, NES or the like. We had what... 10, 15 channels if you could get the tin foil just right? No remote either. Pfft.

Again, that goes back to parenting. Too many parents just sit their kids in front of a TV and let it become a baby-sitter.
As far as SpongeBob and other similar shows go, I don't think any of them were ever conceived with the intention of being educational. They are for entertainment, as are many shows nowadays. You want education, pick up a book.....not a comic book, but a real book. My kids both read at three to four grade levels higher than their current ones. They have both maintained straight As again this year without a single bobble. And they both like SpongeBob.
