Hi all. I have a 95 f-350 crew cab 7.3 powerstroke with automatic 4x4.
transmission is shot with 214k miles on it. its an E4OD trans, So its time for me to go junk yard hunting..lol Hey with the tough times junkyard might be my only avenue. anyway what trannys fit?? does it have to be a 4x4 tranny or can my transfer case swap over? do gasser e4's work or are they geared diffrent? could i go with a c-6 out of a late 80's diesel 4x4.
what are my options other than paying ammco trans 2000.
I love this old truck, im not ready to give her up.
The gas E4ODs have the same gearing. The case is different and won't bolt to a diesel. A trans from a 4x2 won't bolt to the transfer case. So you need a trans from a 7.3L 4x4.
I like the auto myself. Manual transmissions are fun and they are tougher I suppose but for a daily driver I like the auto. So what makes you think it is shot? My torque converter went out a year ago I pulled the transmission had the transmission gone through replaced the TC and the planetary gears. I think the bill was just over $900 bucks. I don't know how much it would be to change over to a manual. Anyway I like the convenience of the auto... my 2 cents

what years fit?? like will an early idi tranny work? or does it have to be a power stroke trans?
