new paint job?

new paint job?
I have a 2002 F250 Powerstroke with 116,000mi. which I plan on keeping for a long time. The paint on the roof and hood is starting to crack and peel badly. One bedside needs rust repaired and I also noticed the fenders and doors are starting to show cracks in the paint. So I would like to get the whole truck repainted. It is a CC Lariat so its worth it to me. Any ideas what this would cost? Will a good body shop paint job look any better than this 10 years from now? Would I be likely to get any help from Ford on this? It is Dark Highland Green if that makes a difference. Also Arizona Beige two-tone, would you leave that or re-paint as well?

Depending on who does the prep and bodywork, $4-10K, if you want it to look professional. You more-or-less get what you pay for, and if you go to Maaco it will still cost quite a bit (by the the time you get a valid quote), and won't last or look particularly good. Cheap paints are very soft and simply don't last.
Dark green (or any dark color) will show body flaws more than a light color, so casual bodywork under that paint will look tragic. If it's two-tone and one 'tone' still looks good, then consider only painting the part that desperately needs it.
If you don't drive it in salt, garage it, and generally take care of it, it can look nice with new paint for another 20 years. You will not get the $$ out of the paint job when you sell it.
I suspect Ford will offer no help in this paint failure.
Find a few body shops and talk to some hot rod guys, and try to find a casual painter who may be willing to work with you on price, or let you do some of the labor, and you may find what you need. Ask to see some of their paint work - if they cannot show you a vehicle they have painted, stay away.
