The bearings going out are pretty common. The problem I've had trying to replace them is there is no good diagram available of how it goes together. The bearings are really weird looking. The 2-3 times I replaced the bearings they still had some play when I got done and slowly got worse. They went bad in my dads 96 F250 and we took the column to a local salvage yard and they rebuilt it for around $100. 6 months or so later we took another column to them and I think it was $4-$500. They are a PITA!!!

These two bearings fit multiple applications too numerous to list.

To see what they are, type the part numbers into Ed's website.

I just replaced my ignition switch actuator on my '93 F-350 and found both my upper steering column bearings shot, with zero grease... this is what you get to look forward to.

Just got "done" with my ignition actuator and bearing install

Problem is the snap ring only goes to the first slot on the upper steering shaft and my column jiggles around... How do i pull the upper steering column forward to seat it on the rear bearing? I can't get the snap ring onto the 2nd notch?????

Also, how in the F#@* do i get the column tilt spring back in?!?!
