Summit racing, I got the bully step and the mcgard tailgate lock for around $79.78 shipped. This site is an expensive habit!

It prob the back up lock that you can install just in case you forget to lock the factory one. It installs on the tailgate hinge.

I made it work. I had to flip the top bar around. I then bolted the triangle shaped piece to the top bar using the threaded place for the jack bolt. I replaced all of the bolts with grade 8 hardware using two 2 inch long bolts and one 1 3/4 inch long bolt with split lock washers. It is fantastic for getting to the pad lock in the fifthwheel hitch. It is much easier to put the key in the lock. Very nice addition to the truck.

went in and had the reflash done and i drove it home and parked it. did not notice anything.
as for the shudder, they ordered a kit of some sorts to take care of it. they will call me when it comes in. afterward i plan to put some miles on it and see how it responds with and without the 5er.

A 5 year update

I still use the steps on a regular basis, but they have been frozen in the open position for a couple of years now. I got tired of taking them apart every spring, cleaning and greasing.

I just look at them now as a set of Canard wings

Thanks for digging this up Duane! Not a solution I was actively looking for but standing on the tire to pull the pin on the 5th wheel sucks. FTE costs me more money! And it's not Rodneys fault!

DeeZee use to make a side board step for a dually. They has since discontinued them. You might look for running boards for a dually and buy the bed half.
