Question obd1 data link is hanging under dash and under hood?

my 1990 f150 5.8 l e40d has a data link in the usual spot under the hood and I noticed there is also one hanging under the dash on the driver side near gas pedal. There is a bronze colored box that kinda looks like the eec with some bare prongs showing that look like the data link should be plugged in to these prongs cant really see how many prongs there are but im pretty sure this is where the data link hooks in. Is this right?

As far as I know, the only diagnostic wiring in the cab is by the parking brake pedal for the rear ABS. I'm not sure what is hanging down, but I'm pretty sure it is not anything to do with reading codes from the engine computer.

The plug under the dash is probably the door buzzer, if yours doesn't work right now and want to find out why everybody unplugs them just plug it back in.

Ford Fuel Injection » How To Run a Self-Test here is what the OBD1 connectors look like. Are you sure it is the same?
