Latest idea is Turbo is leaking oil into the air intake and that acts like extra fuel. That is causing the overspeed.


Kuhio Motors is Ford on Kauai and they have been sympathetic and are trying to solve the problem. We'll see if a new turbo does it...

 

Wow.... didn't see THAT coming.....


It is entirely possible, just the first time I've heard of a turbo failure at so few miles, and to the extent to cause runaway like that...

 

Kind of scary? I thought these turbos didn't use oil for lube or cooling? Wasn't there a big design change from the 6.0 coking issues?

Sorry if my post is stupid, I really didn't think oil would be up there but what else would, so I'm confused I guess.

Ford Hot Line advised turbo leak would allow turbine oil to be added to air line and thus the engine saw too much fuel and raced.


Replaced the turbo and my 2011 F250 6.7L long bed std cab has been running better than ever. Stronger acceleration, same good mileage (20-21).
