2016 F350 Low Oil Pressure Light
hello all. I'm new here and had a question about my new 2016 F350 6.7, every single time I start the truck, I get the low oil pressure light. Even after letting the truck idle. I'm concerned because I have no gauge inside to see what it's running and I also have what sounds like a can of rocks noise at idle and when I'm slowly accelerating I hear a clacking noise. Is this normal or should I be headed to the stealership? Truck only has 1100 miles. I've owned it 3 weeks and this is really making me wonder. I forgot to add that I'm in Louisiana and it's not often really cold. It was 84 today and I had the same thing. Even after I drove it and turned it off. Started it back up, same light.

Considering it's only 3 weeks old and I have a $780 truck note on something that I put cash down on and traded my old truck in on, as soon as this is resolved I'm going to look into going back to a gas engine. I really wanted something bigger to be able to haul my car but the troubles aren't really worth the added costs for me. And I know the big "I TOLD YOU SO" that's going to come from my financial advisor. It took me a long time to decide to cross over to Ford, as I'm typically a GM owner. And I can say I'm not really happy right now. I'm going to call the nearest dealership In the morning and hope that they're willing to help me with great customer service seeing as though I bought the truck out of state.

Sorry, that was not a useful contribution on my part. I've owned Ford turbo-diesels for 15 years and turbo diesel trucks/tractors all my adult life (turned 53 yesterday). A diesel engine that clatters and knocks due to lack of lubricating pressure is VERY short for this world. I would have shut it down and called a tow truck the second I heard any such noises. It sounds like you've been driving it this way for quite a while now, and I'd be willing to bet your engine is already compromised to some degree.

Sucks you come from a gm to a ford and this happens. But just remember, it's not the norm. The trucks brand new, ford has to and is going to warranty it, probably with a crate motor or at least a short block. The 6.7 is a beast, and just as reliable as a duramax. But, failures happen, and even more so with all newer diesels, it's part of the price you pay and why I went gas. Give ford a chance to make it right, then judge the truck. I guarantee you that somewhere right now, someone has bought a new duramax with less miles than yours, and the truck is having major issues. Crap happens. Request a loaner vehicle to drive.
