ignition bypass
First I would like to say great site! I has helped me alot so far.
I bought my first Ford last week 98 F150 4.6L . I have alot of house renos to do and a truck was cheaper then paying for deliveries and junk removal.
Anyways my question is the previous owner has bypass to the starter.Push the button and away we go. Not so good for the anti teft aspect.
The ignition it self turns with the key and moves freely between acc and start. It makes all the lights on the dash come on ect like it should and when turned to start positon it feels like it is ok , i can feel the push back from the spring and the dash lights ,stereo ect go out like it should start.
From what I have gathered from other posts, the key turns the ignition rod into an ignition module on the steering coloum. Can I check voltage coming out of the ignition module on the coloum? If so what color wire?
Also not sure if it is related but the fan on the heater/AC does not work "yes I checked the fuses" lol
thanks

would like to update the information from the testing I have done so farSo far I have checked the ignition , key turns fine and the plastic rod to the module on the bottom of the coloum is intact ( is it possible the module is defective and how would 1 test it) 2. the starter relay works as tahts where the wire was going to from the bypass button. I jumped the terminal and the engine cranks. The small wire on the small top post TAN/RED show 3.3v constant with no change when key is turned.
