My 1996 F-150 EB project

Hi, I've been working on this guy about a month now, but mostly on the annoying P0401 code I hijacked this thread for.
This is my first truck, but I'm hopeful I can do most, if not all of the work myself.

1996 F-150 Eddie Bauer edition
5.0L V8, 2WD/4WD
Reg. cab, long bed

Here's what I've done so far...

Replaced front brake line (pro)
Replaced dash bulbs (x17)
Replaced DPFE sensor and vacuum hoses
Cleaned battery cables and replaced contacts

It's running pretty well, except for a power steering fluid leak.
Here's a look from underneath.

Thats quite a nasty leak! Does it drip on the y-pipe?
What are your future plans?

Duct Tape Racing? Sounds interesting! Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it's a nasty leak alright. It looks to me like it's originating from the pan you see in the picture, but I'm not certain.

I'm not sure what a 'y-pipe' is? So I'll have to get back to you on that one. But if my guess is correct, it just drops straight from this pan to the ground. I think I see a smaller leak closer to the front, however. More on that later.

Future plans, starting now!

Clean battery terminals (baking soda)
Cover holes I poked in the wires for DPFE sensor and EVR testing
Hook up battery
Replace air bypass hose (?)
Check if CEL is still on (P0401)
Confirm source(s) of PS fluid leak(s)
Probably take to shop and let them deal w/ it
Hopefully pass inspection
New tires (if I have any $$$ left!)
Go 4-wheeling and camping!

I'm not ashamed to take it in for this one, but I want to figure out where it's leaking from. If it's an easy fix, I'll do it.

BTW, I referred to what I think is the 'air bypass hose', but here's a pic in case I'm wrong. AZ didn't have anything like it, and I don't even see any Ford parts. Any ideas how I can replace this? All I could think of was to use a connector piece with the tubing I just bought for the DPFE.

...and a closeup

Battery is back in, CEL is now off (hope it stays that way).

But I've been to two auto parts stores, still can't find a replacement for this hose or even tell what it is! I showed them the pics, they still couldn't figure it out.

Can anyone identify the hose in the picture?

can you give me a few pics of the other part(s) this hose goes to thats in question, perhaps if we could see the end point of this hose (not the broken end) we may have a better idea of telling you what it is and what its going to.

It connects to the plastic tube you see going past the EGR valve.

lol oh you guys , its a 96 1/2 ton it is obd2, that is the vapor feed line to the vapor managment valve, the other end meets up to the purge valve and then terminates at the charcoal canister . as far as fixing it, just get a peice of fuel line and repalce it to the plastic tube. i had to do that to mine when i swapped out the intake

Didn't know I had a time machine! I thought that was just for Deloreans.

One thing I forgot to mention, this little piece of tubing is a transition from about 5/16" ID to 1/4". I fit a 5/16" tube in its place, but it was a little loose on the smaller (throttle body) end. In any case, it really helps to know what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

I put the hose back on, thinking a clamp will tighten the fit if need be. Tough part to find.

Anyway, I think I have a worse problem, feeling stupid... that's not power steering fluid gushing from my oil pan... it's OIL!!! (duh)

Guess I need to replace the oil pan.
