early 99 4.5 icon hanger lift
I have been trying to install a 4.5" icon hanger lift on my early 99 ford. For those that have experience with it, I have a couple questions.
The Pan Rod drop bracket doesn't seem to fit. it appears I have to drill holes in my frame to make it work. I talked with Icon and they said it would fit and to adjust the track bar. But that leads to a different question. The track bar
doesn't seem to fit either. Icon tells me it will work, but I don't see how it will.
Any ideas? Do I need the adjustable pan rod?
Thank you

How far is it off?
Most lower dollar kits ask that you shift the axle side to side until panhard (track) bar lines up. Ratchet straps or come alongs will help. Moving axle up or down also changes the distance. If axle is at full droop, the track bar will look way short. Put jack under passenger end of axle and lift there.
But when track bar is under tension or compression, it will not move as freely and affect ride quality.
Since I care about ride quality, I chose to get an adjustable track bar and adjusted it until it is "floating" (no tension or compression) at normal ride height.
Finding adjustable track bars for '99's is difficult as they have smaller bolts than mid 2000+ models. I modified my truck to use later style.

It is best to keep the trac bar and steering drag link parallel, so if a drop pitman arm is used, so should a drop trac bar bracket. Did you specify EARLY '99 when talking to Icon? I'm pretty sure their kit is late '99 to '04.
edit: I went with their 4" front spring kit and it rides great.
