Even if I could afford to have someone else do it, I personally wouldn't. Everything we build is done 100% by our hands, in our shop (minus the engine machining). I take pride in everything that we can accomplish with so little. You know exactly what I'm talking about. I have a picture of a 59 apache longbox in my phone if your interested.
I know what you mean, Brandon. I feel the same way with my woodworking stuff. We had a guy do some cabinet doors for us once. I wasn't happy with it, so I decided to do it myself the next time, and they came out waaaay better.
The truck is my dad's/mine. We spent the better part of 8 years building it together (I was of course more help towards the end of that). We are currently working on a '55 oldsmobile 98 custom.
That truck actually has a pretty neat story to it too. It used to be my grandpa's dad's truck (whatever that is to me). My dad and I saved it from the crusher in a junkyard and built it to what you see today. I wish I had some photos of when we started... you would think we were NUTS..
WOW! Brandon, that truck is gorgeous!! Did you guys tub the rear end??
Yup, the rear is tubbed. We chopped the front-end out and put in a nova front-end to hold the engine. A 454 big-block, .030 over and built-to-the-hilt. Don't have 1/4 mile times, but it outruns my dad's old drag-race pinto that consistently ran low 13's.
