I finally replaced my Nittos with Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's today. Looks good, a bit more offroadish for sure. Not sure if I like it more or less than the Nittos. One thing I will say is the MT 35x12.5's are more rounded than the Nittos even though they are larger diameter so don't rub my mudflaps like the nittos did.

Update: Ran these tires in some light snow today at -8degC and seemed to do ok. Perhaps a little less traction that my former Nitto TG's but certainly respectable. I think they will work out ok. If I find them to be an issue I may pay to get some sipes cut into them (worst case) but I can already tell that in deep snow I think they will work well.

Well, now having issues with tire pressures. These 35's only can be aired up to 65 psi which is right at the lower threshold of the TPMS. So now I have to air up in winter and air down in summer. Very annoying. Is there an easy way to lower the sensor threshold?

Ask for a favour from maybe a dealer tech with access to an IDS? Or most performance tuners can change these settings. I have my threshold set to 55PSI because my tires are also 65PSI sidewall max rating.

Lots of winter driving conditions right about now pretty much everywhere in AB today to test out the tires!

Thanks. I called the dealer and they said they cannot do it.

So now I have to go find a tuner to do it. Can the diesel tuners that you buy for more power also do that? Maybe I'll just chip the damn thing.

Don't think a tuner can do it. Pretty sure EFILive can't so I doubt a regular programmer can. It'll need a TechII to change it. Dealer may just not want to or they think you want it disabled which they likely aren't allowed to do. I had no TPMS in my Avalanche wheels and I just kept resetting the info msg all the time.

Ugh, damn. I told my wife I might as well just get wider wheels, 37's, flares and a 4" lift. Amazingly she agreed.

I thought you only used the Tech II on the GM trucks? EFILive? Did I accidentally click on a GM forum here? lol those are terms I see often on Duramax forums I frequent, less so here.

The H&S and Bully Dog (same hardware) can talk to the BCM which manages TPMS setpoints. Exhibit A:

So, yeah, do all of the above. Two birds with one...chip.

They can, they just don't want to/don't know how to. Lots of places just don't want to because they don't want to be responsible for messing with safety equipment.

Ooops

I'm previously (still am I guess) a GM guy so I looked at what EFILive could do. Must say I do like all the tuning tools for GM ECM's. Just switched back into a Ford.

Ignore what I said and go by what Trent said.

Y'all are crazy with this dealer stuff. Find a dealer and tell them you want to pay to have it lowered. I got the run around big time but kept poking and asking until a dealer offered to sell me an hour of time (less than 100) to reset the values on the TPMS to 50 (so 10% less than 50 it goes off) and thats way cheaper than a tuner and does not mess with the warranty. They ended up not charging me at all but that's a different story. It sounds like work cause it is but a tuner is lots of $$$ if you are only changing TPMS values and tire size. Here's a pick of a Carli 2.5 inch in front, 1 inch in back Commuter 2.0 kit with Toyo 35X12.50r18's on 18x9 wheels with a 5.75 backspacing 18 offset. There is NO rub at full lock or flex, stopped or at speed.
