Does the D50 TTB use inner retainers for the wheel joints?

I want to replace my wheel u joints on my D50 TTB and the parts store has joints that are external clip and inner clips. Does anyone know off hand which ones I need? Truck isn't around for me to check.

Both my D50's uses inner clips on the u-joints. I do believe that mine are the same as your 85. One is a 91 and one is a 94 and they are the same

i think they did yeah.
though i seem to recall reading about trucks from back in the day using the D50's on the extended cabs.
if the D44 uses external clips, this would explain the auto parts store calling for two types i guess.

My 85 has a 50, and it is an extended cab, so there may be something to that 250.

The D50's were used in 350's to 85 and 250's in the extended cabs and those factory equipped with the snow plow package

My 44HD uses internal clip as well, so that may not be the difference...

I know my 1/2ton 44 uses external clips. When i did joints on my 50 i did have an issue with the fancy greasable joint being about 1/32nd" too wide had to go back to the cheapy without the zerk. Both were internal clips

I think you can get a plug for the grease fitting hole that is flush mount screw in design. Then if you really wanted, you could grease it, pull the zerk out and screw in the plug. I have had good luck with the synthetic grease non serviceable joints though, so far.
