i have a 1968 f100 with a 78 400m in it. i just installed a edelbrock performer intake and carb but am having trouble figuring out the linkage adapter? any help would be great thanks....also im new to the site and posting and what not so sorry if its in the wrong forum!!

 

welcome to the site.I installed the linkage from a 1977 its a straight rod from the pedel to the carb.

 

thanks...i was looking to stick with all new parts. the problem I'm having is i can not figure how to hook up the kick down or throttle linkage with the new parts ....

any advice would be great. do i need another part?...looking now its saying i need a new throttle cable bracket?

 

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issues with my linkages. I bought the 1483 and 1493 adapters and there are no instructions with the "throttle plate adapter" or even a picture. I have no idea where to put the throttle return spring. Could you post a picture? Thanks

 

I have a 460 in a 68 the linkage in it is made of thread all and has a bend in it about half way to make up the offset from the pedal to the carb not new but works!

Installation of Adapter:
• Follow the PERFORMER SERIES CARBURETOR INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTION sheet included with the carburetor. During step #1 of
the “PREPARATION OF CARBURETOR FOR INSTALLATION” section you
should attach the Throttle Lever Adapter to the existing throttle lever
using the appropriate bolts, lockwashers, and nuts making sure the
adapter is secured properly.
• Continue installing the carburetor according to the PERFORMER
SERIES CARBURETOR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
While
performing step #2 of the “INSTALLATION OF CARBURETOR,” install
the kick-down lever return spring bracket before tightening the nuts.
• Continue to install the carburetor using the PERFORMER SERIES
CARBURETOR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
The #1483 Ford Throttle Lever Kit will allow you to connect 1967 and
newer Ford automatic transmission kick-down linkage to the Edelbrock
Performer Series Carburetor (Will not work with AOD). If your vehicle
has cable-type throttle linkage, you may also need the appropriate
Edelbrock Throttle Cable Plate Kit.
