I just fixed mine. check the vacuum switch that lives above the brake pedal. When you push the pedal it dumps the vac out of the cruise unit. check and make sure the pedal arm pushes the plunger all the up in the housing. if it doesn't just push it down towards the pedal until it does with the pedal fully retracted

I also lost my cruise about a year ago. Fuse is good and the cannister isn't rusted out. I checked under the steering column and found the switch I think you are talking about right above the brake-light switch. Do you have a picture and how can you tell if the switch is bad? I pressed the brake pedal and from what I can tell the vacuum was released as I heard a hissss. This was with the truck not running.

That is the brake booster. i don't have a pic but look under there mine was black with a white "plunger" in it. the little plunger touches the pedal arm. It has a cheap little clip thingy holding it on its got a vac line runnig from it. Just make sure the plunger goes up into the switch. For testing you could pull the vac line and plug it. But i wouldn't advise running it that way permenatly because if the brake light fuse blows the cruise may not shut off when the brake is pressed Oh and with the clip that holds it you can just push it towards the pedal to adjust it no tools required!

Right above the brake light switch is the second switch with the white threaded part that has a plunger in it. It's hard to see beings that I was almost on my head just to find it above the brake light switch which I replaced about 1 1/2 years ago.

I see that vacuum with plunger you describe.

What i see that hose wasn't push in full way it have gap. plus I watch plunger when I touch brake but what I notice plunger not straight it very slightly crook.

Cruise control not work. Going to look at that again. I unplug vacuum hose on cruise control it suck not bad. I would say I feel 10-15 psi.

What cause them quit? age or it tons of hit brake of/on in city?

Just make sure the plunger goes all the way up in there. It is easily adjusted by just pushing it towards the pedal. On mine it got out of adjustment when i changed the brake booster

Adjust it it it still doesn't work pull the line and plug it. If its easier you can plug it at the cruise unit. Its the line on top of the diaphram pointing to the cab. Then if it works its the switch. I think frod calls it the vacuum dump valve

I'm kinda cofused as to what you saying. There are things you should check the fuse, make sure your speedo doesn't wander. Plug that vac line going to the cab and put vac to the port on the front side of the cruise unit and see if it pulls the throttle open(this is to check the diaphram in the unit itself) Then hook the line to the cab back up and see if vac still pulls the throttle open. If yes the vac dump valve is good. If no adjust or replace the valve. If all this checks out and it still doesn't work its probably wiring and at that I'm lost.
