Want to add Limited Slip Differential to '87 F350
Hey all-
We have a 1987 F350 with the 7.5L 460 v8 and 4 speed manual, 2WD. It has dual rear wheels however. It did not come with a limited slip differential and I was wondering if anyone knew what rearend was in it and where to get a limited slip carrier and gear set. We use it on the farm and it would be neat to think about using it in the snow/mud without having the tractor on standby.
Thanks,
Andrew

Since you said you use it on a farm, and if most roads are not paved you could do it the extreme cheapo way and weld together the spider gears and make it a locker. Very cheap and effecive, 4x4 guys have been doing this for years but HIGHLY not recommended if you drive on paved roads.
Your axle tho is likely a sterling 10.25 could be full float or semi float axles. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-question.html

P.S-The 454 seems a smidge underpowered for what it is....Seems to me like it should have some more ooph...

What am I looking for on the door sticker?
Didn't the factory offer limited slip as an option in 87?
We use the truck to pull a cattle trailer with cattle in it to auction and the truck has a dump bed added to it...
Our main problem is mud and snow so I don't know if the duals will have enough bite to spin the clutches in this particular case?
I bet that 454 pulls better than this anemic emission bogged 460!
Thanks,
Andrew
