lucky i iz .....................
i'll post some pics later if need be , but i pulled the pan on my flathead today after putting her up on the stand . no suprises here . it had everything stamped where it has been apart and rebuilt { after researching i discovered that since all the casting marks were missing except these cryptic ones , that it was a factory rebuild / replacement }and beautiful !!! the rod end play fell well within spec at .0009 , and the crank measured in at .0004 . it was all exceptionally clean with no gunk or build up except some in the bottom of the pan with no weird shavings or mystery chunks in it . the flywheel is like brand new , same for the clutch , and pressure plate , and as noted before some time ago very lil' or faint ridge around the cylinders . i pulled the oil pump screen and rinsed it off and it was as clean as a whistle , and no free play or slop in the pump and it looked like new . once again i pulled tha cam as it was in there for valve lash measurements , and mic'd the bearings i could get too and they are also well within spec. it always ran super , and this is evidence it has led a charmed life ! saves me a lot of money too ... i got a spare flatty but didn't want to do a rebuild if i didn't have too .............
