shortening plug wires

shortening plug wires
has anyone here ever custom fit the plug wires by cutting them and recrimping them?
I ordered a motorcraft kit from rockauto btw very pleased with the price and very quick shipping but I thought that they would be a good fit,some of the wires were like way long so any thoughts/
the long term plans are to move the seloid and other wires on the right side and neatly route the heater tubes on the inner fender well so that they just don't hang from the block to the firewall
and then route the wire harness on the firewall under the lip of the firewall "make sence"?
just looking for ideas to hide/clean up the motor compartment..

It can be done. You'll have to get new ends unless you are real careful unrolling the crimp. It also helps to have a spark plug wire tool. Most race shops should have both. I usually buy a universal kit that doesnt have the ends done. Makes it easier to get the plug wires right.
