Hi Mike,
Removal kind of depends on which specific ***** you are refering to.

The "wiper" ****, "heat/Def" ****, and radio ***** are removed by loosening the small screw on the ****, and pulling the **** off of the switch shaft.

The Light switch **** is molded onto the light switch shaft (one piece). To remove, you have to hold down the small button on the top of the light switch, and then pull the light switch shaft out of the switch.

The "L-air", "R-air", "choke", and "throttle" ***** are molded right onto the shaft of the control cable (one piece). To remove, you have to remove the bezel nut, and then remove the whole cable.

If you are looking to replace just the actual **** itself on any of these cable control *****, you have to actually cut through the old ****, turn the shaft down to the right diameter, and thread it with a die. The reproduction replacement ***** are threaded.

For removing a bezel nut, you can make your own special tool like ford used to use, from a small piece of tubing or pipe. All you have to do is gring the one end down so there are two ears protruding. The pipe fits over the switch shaft, and the ears fit into the bezel nut slots. It's kind of like a screwdriver that fits over the shaft.

I hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
Looks like I goofed after reading my last reply. The cable controls actually have a regular hex nut on the backside of the dash. All you have to do is remove that nut, disconnect the working end of the cable, and pull the cable out through the dash. It's really not as hard as looks.

Sorry about the goof-up.

Hi Mike,
Glad to hear it is going well.

On the light switch........

First, pull the **** so your headlights are on.

All you have to do is reach up under the dash and feel around on the top of the switch. once you've located that little button, push and hold it down, while pulling the **** toward you.

You may have to "jiggle" the **** in and out slightly for it to release completely.

Without pushing the button down, you can push the **** shaft back in just enough to turn all your lights off. The shaft shouldn't "catch", and will come right back out.

Hope this helps
