I have been having a hard time nailing my friend down to borrow his engine hoist. This last weekend my latest issue of Hot Rod came in so I opened it up and started reading. Low and behold there was an ad for Harbor Freight and there were several coupons there too. One of the coupons is for $100 off the purchase of a 1 ton engine hoist bringing the price to $99.99. A deal I couldn't refuse.
OK, so it's Chinese made and I always thought the Chinese were pretty good with math. Maybe not so good with fractions.
It's strong enough to lift my 289 and if it only lasts long enough to do this job it is worth the price.
I also scored an engine stand. The 4 wheel one rated at 1,000 pounds not the 3 wheel one. It was discounted $24 bringing the price to $45.99. No pics there because I haven't assembled it yet.

I bought a similar hoist about 3 years ago for about $140, so that is a good price. I should have gotton one years ago! After seeing how much I used the hoist, I bought and installed a used 2 post lift (built in the USA)for my shop shortly after the hoist. These help considerably as I move along in years.

I have both of those - Never get under them - I also have several pieces of 2x4 cut that I can wedge under the lift arm to brace it - I also have a 2x4 that I can set under the front of the engine while it's on the stand - Ya only have to drop one of those on your toes before you get the idea - I'm givin' ya a freebee

I just built my shop and i built an engine hoist in the walls and ceiling. cant beat it but i also got the $100 hf folding 1 ton hoist and i use it for out in my yard and loading things on car trailer. i have scrapped a few cars since i got it and i use the hoist to getr the tires off. its kinda hard to get a jack out once the tire is off so i just stick it in the fender and start lifting works good

I too picked this hoist up. Mine was last fall. All the mags had them in the HF coupon section for 99, but I found a misprint one month for 89 and jumped on it. The store manager wasnt very happy and later told me that her cost on the hoist is $81.00 and that I was getting a deal and half... of which I already knew!
I promptly used it to help in unloading the four post lift I picked up. My hoist worked harder than I would normally expect it to, right out of the box as the four post lift was 2100lbs... it was a little scarry but it did it!
I went from being the guy borrowing our clubs lift to having one and loaning it out! Which is ok with me!
Nice score!

got the same one , bought several years ago now , for even less than that by the always looking for a deal wifey . it has done it's job well , and has moved , removed several fully dressed fe big blocks with transmissions on them , many times with only one leaky cylinder . they of course as a testament to their replacement policy , got me a new one promptly with no questions asked . it has taken a beating here !!!!!!!!!!!
