First show of the year-Jackson, TN

So Saturday morning I get up and head west on I-40 to my first show of the year, Bunny Run in Jackson, TN, 80 miles east of Memphis. Temperature was 50 and as fate would have it I hadnt found a functioning heater core to replace mine before I left. Needless to say it was a little chilly. There was some nice rides there. Most left the hoods shut and huddled in the main building looking at parts or keeping the chairs occupied . I saw a lot of nice F1's and I saw one truck in particular that just caught my eye from the word hello.

It is owned by a guy that runs a Street Rod Shop in West,TN. A few years back his son built the last car on this link for his High School senior project.

Kennedy’s Hot Rod Shop

Real nice guy. His truck was bought as an unfinshed project. It runs a Nova Front Clip and Explorer Rear end and has a 5.0 EFI and AOD Tranny. He invited me to come out one Saturday to his shop as he had spotted my old 55' and liked the similiar "character" to his. We both agreed and grinned "get to a show wash the wheels and clean the windshield and we are show ready"

SO here are some more pics.

Starliner owned by a Bill Hinkle. If I am not mistaken it seems like I remember that name from the older Pigeon Forge F100 nationals days. He used to drive a white 66 F100 and had the Fuel Injected 5.0 and AOD setup. He sure has a nice Starliner for sure. It has a 390 in it.

F1's

This was a nice one. The owner never opened the hood so Im not sure what's underneath.

This F1 was right behind me as we entered the show.

Here is the drivetrain. Talk about a sleeper

56's

This 56 has a factory original 55 or 56 T-bird Color

289 power with a Volare

Stocker

One of the new 5.0 Coyote Engine waiting for an engine bay to be planted.

One of the games at the show. The guy is a blindfolded and taking direction from his wife how to manuever around the cones. Isnt that fitting?

As fate would have it I was looking for a V8 Radiator Shroud for my 56' I hope to build. My friend and his Dad from West TN who did the work on my 55' were there and I mentioned it to them. They were on their way out leaving and found one. I had started looking back over the vehicles. I then saw my friend walking toward my truck and lay the shroud on the bed. $10 later I was a very happy guy.

The V8 Shroud is on the left. 6 Cylinder shroud is on the right.

I spent the night and headed back Sunday morning. This Hobby isnt cheap..

But you can pick and choose your shows and make other non family sacrifices to get this opportunity.

View thru the windshield of my 55' heading east on I-40 back toward Nashville. No Better therapy from the work week.

Thanks for sharing Donald, looks like a fun time even with the less-than-optimal weather. I really like the Starliner, I don't see many of that year around here.

Excellent pics and descriptions Tacson. I enjoyed looking at it. That 200 mile stretch between Memphis and Nashville is mind-numbing sometimes. My dad grew up in KY, but his dad was in Arkansas. He went to visit once when they were just getting that part of the interstate finished. A guy at a gas station in Memphis told em they could fill up with gas, drive around the sign, and hammer down if they wanted. But they were on their own if they had trouble. Dad said it was complete darkness, no exits, no nothing. He said they were running about 100+ mph when they looked up and saw that one of the bridges hadn't been tapered to match the blacktop. About a 5 or 6 inch ridge. You can imagine how that worked out.

Thanks glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Albuq and Charlieled,
I have to agree that Starliner could find a home in my garage ANYDAY

Homade,
Man I tend to believe it is blessed. Just like getting to know the guys and gals here. It is good. Probably gonna get to the GSM Run mid to late afternoon Thursday. I have vacation days for Thursday and Friday but since I work 2nd shift on my fulltime and dont get off until 1am and home until 1:30am Im gonna rest up and head out maybe around 10am that Thursday.

Great pictures, thanks. I am looking forward to getting out around here. The truck is due home by the end of the month and then I am going to try and find some shows or cruises or something to drive to.

I love looking out my windshield, the other problems just disappear.
