have 2008 ford 350 diesel, hooked horse trailer to it, vibrates truck bad, went in trailer , wife drove, no vibration in trailer? only in truck? any ideas, tires balanced etc
Could be as simple as a out of balance wheel but could be as bad as a distressed carrier bearing in the rear differential.
thanks had all wheels balanced, rear end just done , rear seal moter replaced, when pull horse trailer only time it vibrates, truck smooth otherwise?
plus inside trailer smooth?
I'm just guessing your horse trailer is a bumper pull and not a gooseneck. If so...
Load up the rear end of the bed with about 1000 lbs of weight (the section behind the wheels and up to the tailgate). The easiest way is to have Lowes or Home Depot place a large bag of sand/rock/whatever in the back end of the truck. Pay them for the sand and tell them you're going to return it after a test drive.
This will lighten up the load placed on the front tires. If you get a vibration, then it's a probably a front tire that's manufactured within spec and balanced, but still out of balance enough to cause a vibration.
