EMERGENCY HELP ON 477 NEEDED
Just joined the forum after spending countless hours trying to figure this out. I am co-owner of a 77 Ford Pierce bodied fire truck. Last weekend the fan assembly disintegrated and the fan put a hole in the radiator. It was towed to a ford truck dealer and they now say we need $1000 in labor and the fan assembly is no longer made so we need a $700 electric fan kit. This seems ridiculous. I've searched high and low for a replacement part but it seems our 477 equipped truck has a whole hub/fan assembly as one rather than just a blade. Can anyone help with advice, replacement parts, and/or other solutions. We can't afford 2 grand in repairs and it seems ridiculous what should be a cheap part is requiring such an elaborate fix. I have found "fan spacers" which look like they may work but the hub pattern is impossible to find information on. In these trucks is the fan connected to the water pump directly? Thanks in advance - Contribution to the forum if anyone can assist.

Any HD truck yards around? These things are antiques, so I don't know how many you'll find laying about, but they sold a lot of them, so useable parts may be around....

I see the engine & part listed, don't know much else, found it by google search for "ford 401 477 fan hub".

477 fan connection
been through that, had my fan break about 20 years ago, but at that time I was able to buy a new one and the price was 425.00, I have just taken my
engine apart to redo the exhaust valves and the fan assembly is off the water pump. I can get you the thread information and then I would recommend the Lincoln town car fan clutch. I saved the one off my sedan just in case. also check the later pumps, it seems to me that the 75-78 fans mounted on the water pump pulley.
