7.3 internally balanced or externally? cant find out any info.

im replacing the flywheel on my 01 7.3 auto , since i have the tranny out and i bought one but not shure if it needs to be balanced to the old ones spec. any info would help

You have a harmonic balancer on the front of the engine. The flexplates are not balanced in anyway.

thanks , i was just wondering ive dealt with thi with a 400 sbc and wasnt shure.

Only thing I remember about flywheels on Chebbys was the flywheel had to be matched to the balancer for the engine type. It has been a long time, but I remember not being able to find a manual flywheel for my 262 ci, so I used a 327 flywheel and a balancer from the 327, worked great.

On the auto's the flexplate is so lightweight, I think you would have to try hard to make it un-balanced!
