My son purchased a 1994 F-150 and the front driver side sags. It sits almost two inches lower than the right. I am not much of a front end guy. Is this a week or broken coil? Shock? Any ideas? Also it has the I6 engine.

Probably a coil or coil perch which is attached to the frame. Common issue with these older girls. Compare the passenger side frame/coil/coil perch with the drivers side, and see what doesnt look similar. doubt it's the shock, that doesnt support any weight. Mine sagged on the passenger side, and I found the coil perch was partially ripped/rusted away, and was "pitching" forward, which caused the front to drop. Don't let it go to long without repair though....if that perch breaks away, it wont be good.

 

Thanks Flareside. Son is going to bring it back over in the morning and we will jack it up and take a look. Truck has 203000 miles on it. Told him we might as well look at replacing the entire front end. Anything else to look aout for?

I'd check the whole frame, pay attention to radius arm brackets.

 

While your at it, check the rear springs hangers. These too are prone to rust quicker than the frame, and are not really a big deal to replace (Ford dealerships carry replacement hangers/ perches because of this) If you can find a competent repair shop they can cut (the hangers and perches are rivited to the frame) and replace a set in under 3 hours. As edge said, check the Radius arm bushings, they tend to "clunk" when worn. And the usual, ball joints etc. Another thing to take a peek at is the pivot bushing that ties (pivots) the left and right front axle halfs together.
