Bed off the 54

Got the bed off. Found some #2 common red oak in the shed. More parts in the yard, the frame looks great all the rivets are solid...tomorrow it all goes together.

I see why some get new nuts and bolts.

<a href="http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/calorchard/f100/?action=view&amp;current=PICT0001-6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p74/calorchard/f100/PICT0001-6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The oak is ready for install, used light oak stain and marine varnish, grey oil paint on bottom.

Going to paint the frame today w/ primer and assemble the 3 beds into 1. Will use the old tail gate for wall art. I have some mill run #2 common red oak T&G 1X6 that will look very good in the bed with all the knots, pin holes, stain, shake, grub holes, ect... Cherry Valley is where the 10 and 60 meet and not in LA.

For you historians and stockers here is proof that the beds were painted body color...

If you look close @ my old bed pix you will see that 1/2 the metal strips are gone! Granddad welded some sheet metal in the bed. So that is why 1/2 is rotted and 1/2 is like new.

Primer is rattle can Rustoleum.
