So I've spent the past 2 years fixing up my '66 F100 and now its about ready to leave the shop. I'll be using it for occasional driving and sometimes light truck duties, like hauling some wood or towing a small fishing boat.
So I need insurance right? So I call up Pemco and they'll only insure it for the blue book value, which comes out to about $1000. I call up Hagarty, who will insure it for an agreed value, but will not allow me to use the truck as a truck - meaning now towing or hauling.
Well; its bascially as you mention; my "Show" Trucks I used Hagerty! And my daily driver's I just put Uninsurance lialbility on then. (Check Spelling).
I figure if I get hit by someone hopefully they have insurance or my Uninsurance will cover it. And if I cause the problem ie wreck; I will just have to suckup the damage repairs on my vehicle.
If my vehicle amount is over their recommend value' I would argue with well document reciept's and a good lawyer; if once they tell me my value is less than my investment in my vehicle. My comments (story) isn't the right answer; but maybe your only choice would be too check into other Insurance Companies and if not luck Unisurance is prolly the only best option.
I have everything with State Farm. The truck is insured agreed value (collectible) policy. I asked it towing a car on a trailer with it would void my insurance and surprisingly they said no. I tow with it maybe half a dozen times a year, haul mulch with it every spring and the occasional piece of furniture or metal to the dump. I just can't use it as daily transportation.
