I've got a new winshield seal and glass ready to install, but I wanted to polish the stainless trim. I need to use the truck in the mean time. My question is, can I install the trim after the glass is installed?
No, you can't. The windshield trim and windshield glass need to be installed together while the windshield is out of the truck.
If you've never done it before, it is a tiny bit tricky...tape as you go, that keeps things in place until the glass and trim are
together, then it's easy to install.
Hey welcome aboard; what's holding you up from installing the windshield and trim now?
There's not safe or possible way to install trim once glass is mounted into the truck.
If the weather is good and you got to use the truck now; drive without a windshield.
Just keep your mouth close and the bugs only sting for alittle while.
Polish the stainless steel w/shield reveal mouldings gently, it's paper thin and very prone to bending...especially the four cab corner mouldings.
Do not use a bench grinder w/a polishing wheel, do it by hand...otherwise, if you do not pay attention, you may have nothing left worth polishing.
Oh, and btw: Make sure you have the correct w/shield weatherstrip, cuz there are two different types. The one you need (C1TB-8103110-B) has a groove in it for the mouldings.
