In my Upgrade planning, EGT control in mind, I am considering water/meth injection vs. an intercooler. I know I have seen at least one of you with water/meth injection but see most install in an intercooler. Besides cost, why would an intercooler be preferred over water/meth injection?
My future upgrades will be stage 1s, 17*hpop, chip and eventually a turbo upgrade, electric fuel.
I can currently hit 1200* with my 7500lb trailer on a mild incline running 15lbs of boost.
I would suggest the IC for sure. It's 'always on'. If you'll be hauling heavy loads through mountain passes/big hills, etc, you may want the water/meth for those particularily hard, short duration pulls. My $.02

Agree with that, I think they are complementary just in case you cant control the EGTs, Id put first the IC and see what happens, and if you need more control add W/M. Oldbird here has both IIRC maybe he chime in here later.
Yep run the intercooler. Water injection if for short bursts or towing hills but not for everyday ordinary EGT control. You will have a very hard time keeping the tank full of Water/meth if you use it as your only egt control.
I like my coolingmist water/meth injection, they have 150psi pumps. I just use water and it helps by about 150-200*. When I'm on a all out pull on a mountain grade I can keep the momentem going longer and not have to reach down another gear. Tim is right, it uses a lot of water!
What W/M brands are best? I have heard of Diablo but have no clue how good they are. I think i saw that brand on Diesel perf site, but can't remember. I am interested in having both as well, the hills in CA can really messs with the EGT's.
I bought Coolingmist because they have the highest psi pumps. They also have great customer service, ask a question and you'll get a answer within a hour.

Where do you have your water tank stored? How much is the Pre-Mixed or can you run straight water? Thanks Glenn!!
I got the seven gallon tank and mounted it in the bed. I just run straight water for now, I'll experiment sometime with meth combo. Its still pretty new to me. The controller is a boost gauge that you can set it to when you want it to come on and also set the highest boost pressure when you want it spraying full blast. Its progressive between the two settings.
Sounds like you are happy with it so far. Do the lowed engine temps really affect performance that much? I can understand laying off the throttle to keep temps down, so does this system just allow you to keep on throttle longer?
Does it add Power or just keep it cooler??? How long does 7 gallons last?
With just water it doesn't add any power, just keeps the EGT's cooler. If you add meth, then it will be adding power. I had a old big tank in my pickup that I converted to water but it wasn't clean enough no matter how many times I cleaned it so I got the seven gallon tank. The nozzle has a real fine screen on it. I haven't tried it out yet, Sunday morning I leave on a trip and will know then how long it lasts.

Yes, I'm happy with it so far because the lower EGT's allow me to, as you say, keep the throttle on longer. It has always bugged me that I have done mods to increase my towing capacity but I have to back out of it because of EGT's. I still do have to let off the throttle but not as much as before.
My thinking was that since my truck is not a daily driver (6K miles in 15 months) that the injection kit suits my weekend warrior agenda while giving me a performance boost if I run methenol blend. I do see where the intercooler is a once and done mod. May end up doing both but I might do the water/meth first.
