steering wheel does not 'lock' with key out

Seems like my steering wheel does not want to 'lock' anymore with the key out. It will sometimes, if I twist the steering wheel almost 180 degrees.

Is this 'lock' adjustable?

Not adjustable, but probably just needs cleaning. Pull the plastic off, and you can see the lock pin, amd clean it with brake cleaner or electric cleaner.

Mine is random as well, and has been for quite a while, but I never thought about doing anything about it. Might have to one day check into cleaning the locking pin.

My 99 doesn't lock....period, the owners guide shows the lever to push to lock and remove the key, but its not there, maybe 99.5 changes deleted the lock mechanisms....no idea, no big deal to me, but mysterious

Well, its a minor inconvenience. When parking on a hill, its nice to turn the front wheels into the curb and 'lock' the steering. Not to say the truck has actually ever 'run away' on me, but still.

The other thing is I recently found a 'truck club' at a garage sale and so I've started attaching that to the steering wheel when parking in dubious areas. If the steering wheel is not 'locked' the club has alot of play.

I'll open it up and take a look to see if cleaning helps.

thx
