Ryan's 72' F-250 project

I bought this project 3 weeks ago pic is the way I got it.

The chassis started life as a F-250 and the body as a F100, at some time they were mated. The body is equipped with factory AC.

The engine compartment received a much needed intake manifold gasket set, new Holley 080457-S carburetor, air cleaner, hedman headers, 3" exhaust & super 44 flowmasters.

I have ordered new headlights (H4 conversion), taillights, side markers, & clear turn signals.

I have removed the 3 inch body lift, the 39.5 swampers fit snuggly with some minor fender trimming.

Headlights came today, this is with the body-lift off. Removed a lot of the trim, will be filling and painting at some point blue/white 2-tone. I've only primer-ed white so far, everything else isn't my doing.

The exhaust, same on both sides, still need to add a 90 degree turn down.

Good looking truck I have a 71 f250 4x4 what kind of suspension is on your truck? Is it stock springs or is there a lift kit on it? And what are the tire measurements and what kind of super swampers are they? Looking forward to seeing more pics of your progress what's your plans for the truck?

From what I can tell its a 4 inch lift kit, front springs and rear blocks. The tires are some worn 39.5X15X15 TSL's.

Plans are paint, interior work, 73-79 dana 44 or 60 swap (closed knuckle 44 with drums currently) and steering swap and fabrication as well (has the f250 hydraulic assist currently). I'd like to get the AC working again. Other than that just a pickup and tow rig, its a blast to drive.

is the axle currently a 8 lug? if so how well do the 15'' rims fit? i always thought that you couldn't fit 15's on the 8 lug DANA 44 do the tires rub anywhere? if your swapping front axles i'd suggest finding the 44 or 60 out of a mid 77-79 f250-f350 they have open knuckles disc brakes and are pretty much bolt in. also the power steering setup that's what i'm doing to my f250 right now

You can run 15" rims on them, usually with alot of offset and a 1/4" spacer and/or caliper grinding.

It is 8 lug, they fit fine..it does have 1/4 washer spacers. An open knuckle 44 or 60 is the way to go with disc brakes. No matter the steering its going to need some fabrication due to the F-250 hydraulic assist. Its a manual steering box push/pull front to back with 2 hydraulic cylinders and 6 hydraulic lines. Its way too much to worry about, rather swap it out for a power steering box with 2 lines, fabrication of the frame will require plating and re-drilling to the proper dimensions.

Installed new taillights and went crazy with some serparte glass blue dots, if I were to do them again I'd go with ones already installed. There is some satisfaction doing your customization...however it doesn't outweigh the hassle of this installation. Instructions say "use 15/16" drill bit and install dot". Sure! find that at your local hardware/home improvement store. You'll end up using a 3/4" bit and carefully cutting the rest with a pneumatic bur bit.
