rear diff use 75w140 synthetic if you tow quite a bit with it. 3.8qts approx. If not you can use 80/90, but it's up to you. Tranny, I just used regular dextron III I think it is, you can use synthetic there if you want too.

I have a bunch of Royal Purple 75/90 but don't do a bunch of towing. I do carry heavy loads on occasion and haul a little 5x8 utility trailer. Would the RP do the trick or should I get some 140?
Thanks

Forgot to mention the limited slip additive if you have l/s. Or just buy a fluid with it already in it.
Marvin, I'm not real familiar with the 75/90 so I don't want to lead you astray.

I just got a pan gasket/filter at the parts store. Make sure the old oring comes out if you change the filter. I use silicone on the diffs.

When you have the diff cover off do you spray the internals with brake cleaner?

The stock tranny gasket is reusable, just check its in good condition. The diffs dont use any gasket just silicone as mentioned below.

Yeap be careful about that o-ring and be sure that the filter has the same dimentions as your old one.

If there is a need just wipe things off with shop towel. I wouldn't spray brake cleaner in there. Probably wouldn't hurt anything. But I still wouldn't unless I was taking it apart.
