Lowering my frontend with out dream beams.

I actually just sold it to a guy here locally about a month ago. It had sat for a long time and swapped beds on it with my current 78 4x4 to eliminate the rust I had on the bed on the 4x4. It does still have the kit on it. The guy I sold it to is in the process of fixing it up rat rod style. Should look sharp............

Lol that is funny I called him Cooter cause he does look like Uncle Jesse's truck but he is set up for towing and there is a bunch of CB hook ups.

I love these threads, but most recent (other than really recent) post was 2011. I wonder how the OP's truck turned out. Would another way to lower these things be in the coil springs? not too concerned about camber problems, but wondering if OBS lowering coils would fit? IIRC 1st gen lightnings used slightly lower springs, as well as Belltech making 2" lowering coils for 87-96? seems easier and better than cutting exixting coils, I know the beams and front frames are a little different, but can the coils be that different? Read a ton about lowering w/out beams, but don't remember seeing late model coils as an answer

Alternative coils, if they fit, can likely be used. However, the main issue is the resulting negative camber from cutting coils or using shorter coils. And negative camber, simply to get the look, is a hack.
Closely study the motion of the I-beam suspension and you should be able to deduce what happens.
Suspension systems patterned after the Mustang II (upper & lower control arms with a coil in between) don't have the issue of negative camber resulting from cut/short coils.
Dropped spindles? None are made for these rigs.

Cutting coils, bending I-beams is a true story. HIO is dead on! Heres another something something to thing about. King Pins. The angle of the dangle up or down changes the radious arm as well and changes the degree if the king pin. As HIO said, you start effing with your safety and those that ride with you. That's why people smarter than you and I have built "KITS" to raise and lower our trucks.
If ya gonna do it, do it correctly.

My buddy Sid drops axles, but he's yet to do some twin beams.
Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, Dropped, axle, Axles, Spindles, kingpins, tie rods, steering arms, Guthrie, Oklahoma
I've planned on picking up a set at the J/Y and dropping off for him to try.
