I have a 1997 F250 460 auto build 01/97 it has a OBD1 connector under the hood. No OBD 2 for the last of the 460's ?

It wasn't mandatory on trucks with a GVWR of 8500+ in 1997. The PSDs were all OBD-II but they technically didn't need to be at the time.

Is this truck an HD? I'd so it's probably EEC-IV

Had the same thing with my 96 F-superduty. Assumed that post-95 was all OBDII but I was wrong. Getting diagnostics blows, but the code readers are most likely on clearance at your auto part store for 25 bucks

They existed, but were only sold in California.

The VECI label will state what type of powertrain control it is equipped with.

The other dead give away is the air filter box will have a MAF sensor.

Hey were are you guys getting your OBD 1 code readers at? I would really like to have one of these instead of reading the flash codes on the CEL.

That Innova code reader is one of the best. I have seen them carried at the local parts stores from time to time. Highly recommended it.
