tie rod end replacement with heim joints
H guys,
I got 10 pages in, and searches really didnt hit what I was looking for. Has anyone done this yet? I could really use some help, and opinions. Ties rod ends and linkages are all shot. Again. I'm all over the road and have seen a few other guys running heim joints up front but haven;t got to talk to them. I think I want to go that route due to the lift and tires I'm running. I usually only get 30k mi before the ends go, with wear and deterioration going before that. Also, I have some chromoly tubing sourced, heim joints sourced, and someone to weld them up. Its the shape I am wondering about.
I cant swing the cross over steering hub yet, but the heim setup I've seen raises the connections on the passenger side a little as they stack onto of the steering tab. That seems to eliminate the need for the bend that is in there now and the linkage will stack up on the steering tab as to below it. What issues with geometery should I be looking for? Truck is only highway, no off road, so no serious suspension movement to really worry about.
Thanks guys, appreciate any and all leads.
