Has anyone here moved from an Expedition to a crossover?
The other day my wife and I were discussing the next family vehicle and she mentioned that we won't the huge Expy in a couple of years as my youngest will be in college. I suggested we get an Edge to replace the Expy. My reasons were,
Nice ride height
Easy ingress / egress (she's slightly physically impaired with bad knees
Better MPG's
Any thoughts? Is the Flex a better option?

I went from a Navigator to an MKX and now back to an Expedition. On the plus side the MKX is better on fuel, certainly easier to manage and park. For me, I missed the third row (I have teenagers) but more importantly I missed the size and ride comfort. We hadn't had the new Expedition but a few days before both my wife and I commented that we hadn't realized how much we missed the space and comfort. Don't get me wrong, the crossovers are comfortable but there's a definite difference.

My wife moved from an Expe to Edge and she could not be happier. She drives 90% in town most of the time and the Expe would use a lot more gas. The 2nd row seats have lots of room for adults good as expe. Only negative I see is front seats have a low roof line when getting in / out so if your over 6.2" you might bump your head getting in / out if your not careful. Other than that love the 3.5 engine and overall package of the Edge..
My 2 cents

I moved from a 99 Expedition to a 09 Edge. I really like it.
The fuel economy is somewhat better, depending on the weight of your foot.
Over all it is a GOOD vehicle with adequate cargo space for a couple to go see the grand kids.
I'm also SS Qualified, a long time ago. 417, 604 & 633

Ah, the days of wooden ships and iron men! Just kidding. For me, 696,713 and 689. All LA class fast boats.
Thank you for your service sir.

I went from and edge to an o7 expedition. I love both vehicles. The edge has a peppy little engine, can get great gas mileage if you take it easy (it loves 55 mph roads). The edge is super quiet and fun to drive. For my family it was just too small. If it was just a family of 3 maybe 4 then you would be ok. add any big pets and it gets a bit small for vacations and the such. You definately can't go wrong.

We moved from a '97 Expedition to an '09 Flex. Kids are gone, just the two of us. The wife loves the Flex, it's size, visibility and east of driving. Mileage is somewhat better than the Expy, especially on the hiway. I'm not thrilled about some of the gov't mandated features to protect us from ourselves, but that is a topic for another thread.
We looked at an Edge, but found the interior too cramped, I'm 6'6".
We have about 10k on the Flex and the wife couldn't be happier. And we all know the value of a happy wife!
If we get 150k trouble free miles from the Flex, like we did on the '97 Expy and the '87 Crown Vic Squire before that, I too will be happy.

Wife has been in an Explorer forever and she wanted to get the latest one but it won't be available till later. We test drove an Edge and liked it since it was comfy for me. Very surprising to have as much horsepower as my 2002 FX4 and get 2 more mpg than the Explorer. We would recommend an Edge to any one. Oh we got an AWD because of winter here in Michigan.

At the end of December I moved from an '08 Expy EL 2WD to a Lincoln MKT AWD (Same floor plan as the Flex).
I love the MKT. The car rides and handles great and I can't say enough about the 3.5 Eco-Boost. The power is unreal.
The third row seats on the MKT are for kids only as Lincoln sacrificed head room for style. The Flex does not suffer from this.
Since my wife would not let me put a 6 inch lift on the AWD Lincoln, I did have the company buy a used 4x4 tow vehicle. Please do not ask what kind.
