Bought the 3 sockets I thought it could be at the store.
All 3 were wrong.
It was the 2 1/4 socket 4 prong.
Anyways.
Steering is tight! wooo!

I wouldn't' have been able to get them out if I tried.
Would need a huge press.
The one didn't even have a clip in it anymore. haha. It wouldn't' budge. I hit it hard.
I wanna do a a d50, or d60 for under there.
Thinking bout converting a SD d50 with 450 knuckles or something. Depending on what I can make work

I did the feel method.
Tight was a bit to tight, so i backed it off 1/4 turn, then when you put the jam nut on, it tightens it back up a bit.
It spun with a bit of resistance, I called it good.
I know you dont want them completly free spinning and want a bit of resistance.
Give it a whirl and it turns a time or 2 and stops.
Bout where it was when I took it off.
Of all the things, the hardest was getting the axle shaft back into the slip yoke. Took me 30 mins!

Couldn't get the bottom taper to pop out.
Took me good hour and a half to figure out how to get it out.
I beat on it and everything I could thing of.
Finally finagled the ball joint press on it to put pressure on it and whailed on the top ball joint and it finally poped loose.
The problem is, I had nuts on both the ball joints. I had to cut them off cause the top one had stripped and the bottom one had stripped from the pressure from the press.
What a pain.

Would be silly to change 1 side of bearings and leave the other used.
The Spiral lock on the hubs was cool though. I didn't expect that getting in there.
I like the big hubs way better than them d44 hubs.
Same design, but a bearing instead of bushings.

it almost sounds like u didnt get the lock washer all lined up. the jam nut shouldnt make the adjustment nut move more than like 1/64 of a turn. i lerned the hard way, cost me $150 for new hubs and delayed me an hour on my road trip.

took mine back apart last night to replace my passenger side axle shaft after it broke on me, but yeah its the same as a dana 60 4 prong spindle nut, i usually just run into the problom of getting the lock washer for the spindle nut and the darn spindle off, i was really not looking forward to doing it cause i had just had a hell of a time getting the spindles off of a dana 44 8 lug axle i have sitting in the garage that im rebuilding. the skin on my knuckles is gone from messing with the lock ring though, just a pain in the *** ha
