Compressor housing bolt hitting pedestal? UPDATE Leak fixed more pics added.

Today I pulled the recently installed 38R to install a blank pedestal, I noticed the front compressor housing bolt looked pretty close to the pedestal but was short on time so had to proceed. Now that I am home I see I have a pretty good oil leak going on. I am thinking this bolt is hitting the pedestal and not allowing the turbo hold down bolts to do the job of sealing the mating surfaces.

Any one run into the issue of the blank pedestal interfering with housing bolts??

Update : Oil leak is fixed, it was passenger side fitting on the HPX line leaking. Not to much leakage really, inclined driveway led me to believe it was worse

Pulled turbo anyways to alleviate the bolt problem

Here is a pic of the interference :

Removed about .1 from the end of the two lower housing bolts, the one closest to the x pipe was definitely hitting the pedestal.

Uploading pic of old pedestal:

Ok so here is the old pedestal, you can see where the housing bolt was hitting it:

So my theory is that my turbo is not fully mated to the new pedestal even though I was able to torque the hold down bolts. Its either that or I dislodged an oring while positioning the turbo? Or something is up with the new pedestal

Humm! Man it's alot of work but it may be just an o ring. I haven't heard of anyone else having a problem with a non ebpv ped. But I do find it odd that the it hits like that. If you do remove it and you find a pinched o ring I would grind the pedestal so that bolt is not binding just in case it would for whatever reason cause problems down the road!

I have the 38r and non-EBPV pedestal. I removed the turbo to change out the 1.15 A/R turbine housing and didn't have any leaks before or after it was re-installed.

Thanks for the replies guys, I know that I will be pulling the X pipe at a minimum. I plan on trying to remove the offending bolt and see if turbo hold down bolts will re torque . If it wont bolt down any further than I will know that an o ring is dislodged somewhere

i found when i did the w/w in my stock turbo i had a small amount of movement before the bolts were tightened down, maybe try loosing off the main turbo bolts and try twisting the turbo a tiny bit, that might give you enough clearence...
i realise yours is'nt the stock turbo but it might be enough to work.

So the pedestal and O rings are fine? it was the HPX line? Which HPX are you using?

Using the SS hardline from Riffraff, the leak was from the fitting not being tight enough

Good deal. Those pesky hard to locate oil leaks can drive a guy crazy.....
